The Remarkable Story of Eddy Boas
A visionary business leader, and a celebrated author, Eddy Boas embodies resilience and hope.
Antisemitism in Australia
It Starts with Words
It Ends in Death
“As a survivor of Bergen Belsen, I did not think I would live to see history repeating itself.”
Eddy Boas
I wrote this article out of deep concern and lived experience. As a Holocaust survivor, I have seen firsthand what happens when governments fail to confront antisemitism early and decisively. In this piece, I argue that the Australian government has been dangerously slow and weak in responding to rising Jew-hatred, particularly following violent attacks, public incitement, and ongoing intimidation of Jewish communities.
I draw parallels between what I experienced in Europe before and after World War II and what I now see unfolding in Australia—through unchecked protests, intimidation on university campuses, political inaction, and a reluctance to enforce the law. History has taught me that antisemitism does not disappear on its own; it grows when it is ignored, excused, or politicised.
I urge you to read the full article. Even if you disagree with me, it is important to understand why many in the Jewish community feel abandoned, fearful, and unheard. History has shown us where silence and inaction can lead—and we cannot afford to learn that lesson again the hard way.
